Essay topics:

The chart shows the number of mobile phones and landlines per 100 people in selected countries.

The given bar chart reveals the proportion of mobile phones and landlines owned in certain countries, including canada, Denmark and italy. On the whole, in most of the given european countries, mobile phones are more popular than landlines, while in north america, namely canada and the US, individuals prefer landlines.

To begin with, italy is the country that the ownership of mobile phones is the highest, being almost 90 per 100 people. However, italy is also where only around 43 landlines are held by every 100 individuals, which is less than half of the mobile phone ownership.

On the contrary, there are more than 60 landlines possessed among 100 people on average in canada, yet just above 35 mobile phones are owned by the same population. Apart from this, it is interesting to note that unlike the situation in the other given countries in Europe, landlines seem to be more appealing to Danish, though there is no considerable difference of the number of mobile phones and landlines bought by every 100 individuals (approximately 82 and 88 respectively).

By and large, citizens in north america, such as canada, possess more landlines than mobile phones, while the preferred communication device is different in italy and some other given european countries.
