The chart shows the results of a survey conducted in the UK regarding the level of interest in 6 particular sports
The bar chart gives information about the proportion of people in the UK who had interest in six types of sports: football, tennis, swimming, volleyball, rugby and golf; from 1995 to 2005.
Overall, on the one hand, UK people were interested in all types of sports shown to a certain extent, but the most popular one for them was football. On the other hand, least percentage of people showed interest in golf.
Looking more meticulously, the trend which was the most popular among people in the UK was football in 1995 ; and those who showed interest in it were about 40%. After five years this number increased to almost 48% , before falling to around 45% in 2005. Meanwhile, the proportion of people who showed interest in rugby, which also was the second most common type of sports in the UK from 1995 to 2005, increased gradually, from virtually 35% to around 37%.
With respect to other sorts of sport, there were people showed almost the same interest,namely swimming, volleyball and tennis. However, there was an increase in the interest of people towards swimming and volleyball, from approximately 27% to virtually 30% for both of them, but it was opposite for tennis, which there was a 5% decrease to nearly 27% between 1995 and 2005. Contrary, golf, which there was slow increase; from around 17% to approximately 19%, remained the least popular sports among UK people during the decade
