the charts below give information on ages of the populations of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevent.
The following pie charts show the age distribution of two different countries, Yemen and Italy, in 2000 and how the ages of their population will change by 2050.
As can be clearly observed from the pie charts, whereas the majority of people which was about 50.1% were children up to 14 years old in 2000 in Yemen, the prediction illustrates around 37.0% of Yemen population will be under 14 year by 2050. while the share of people over 60 will increase slightly from 3.6% in 2000 to 5.7% in 2050, the 15-59 years age group will observe a remarkable climb from 46.3% to 57.3% within the first half of 21th century.
With regard to Italy, the proportion of elderly people shall approximately double from 24.1% to 42.3 during 2000 to 2050. Unlike the fact that the quota of children under 14 years old was 14.3% in 2000, there will be a slight decline and will reach 11.5% in 2050. The same trend about adults between 15 to 59 years old is accessible and the percentage of this age group from 61.6% will fall sharply to 46.2% according to projections for 2050.
It is clear from the pie charts that Italy will have far more above-60-year-old population in 2050 than 2000. By contrast, Yemen will witness a situation that more than half of its population will be between 15 to 59 years old adults by 2050.
