The charts below show annual average spending on clothes per person in the US in 1985, 1995 and 2005.

The given chart demonstrates the annual average money spent by US residents on clothes from 1985 to 2005. Overall, it is clear that boys, girls, and women witnessed an upward trend over the given period while the figure for men experienced some fluctuations.
Women were the group that spent the most money on clothes. In 1985, averagely a woman spent 450$ a year buying clothes. This figure increased slightly to 460$ in 1995, before rocketed to 620$ by the end of the period. The similar trend can be seen in girls. The amount of money a girl spent on clothes rose from 90$ in 1985 to 100$ in 1995, reaching 110$ by the end of 2005.
Starting at 250$ in 1985, the figures for men increased significantly, reaching its peak of 420$ in 1995, before witnessed a fall to 400$ in 2005. The changes were the least significant in boys. Only 100$ was spent by a boy on clothes in 1985. This number plateaued over the given period.
