Overall, people owned more and more washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner since 1920. However, each family gave less time on doing housework afterwards.
The trend buying electrical appliances rose significantly since 1920. In the first year, approximate 0 percent of families were equipped refrigerator. But during the 1920 and 1980 period, the demanding having this machine increased extremely. Vacuum also had a moment. Owing vacuum cleaner rose from 30 percent to 100 percent in early 2019, sharing the same stage with refrigerator. Compared to those appliances, washing machine just increased gradually and reached 75 percent in the last year.
In contrast to the growth of having electrical appliances, the number of hours of housework per week decreased gradually. In 1920, people spent normally 50 hours per week, but the data declined significantly until 1960, accounting for 20 hours. After that the number fluctuated around 10 and 20 hours, and reached 10 hours in the last reported year, which means, the data dropped 40 percent since 1920.
