It is obvious from the charts that from 2000 to 2010, the proportion of expenditure on education was the highest, while other accounted for the smallest spending. Moreover, the local government tent to decline amount of money spent on the majority of sectors over 10 years.
In 2000, local government spent the largest amount of their money for education at 24%, which was moderately higher than that of healthcare with 21% and 5% higher than the figures for pensions. Additionally, the amount of money used for defence, welfare and interest on borrowing made up 17%, 8% and 5%, respectively. On the contrary, the smallest sectors were transport, culture, leisure, and other, which comprised a small fraction.
Over 10 years, the amount of money used for education witnessed a gradual downward trend to 21%, followed by healthcare and defence, which all dropped to 20% and 14%, respectively. Moreover, the figures for transport and culture and leisure fell together to 1% and were still the least spending of the government. Whereas the rate of pensions and other still remained stable at 19% and 1% over the period. Furthermore, expenditure on welfare and interest on borrowing rose substantially to 13% and 10% in 2010.
