Given are the pie charts comparing the changes in workforce in three main industries between town A and B over half a decade, from 1960 to 2010.
As can be seen, manufacturing sector attracted by far the largest number of laborers in general. However, the workforce in this sector had a tendency to decrease, while the services’ followed the opposite pattern.
In 1960, manufacturing was the dominant industry in both town A and B. Particularly, the workers in this industry constituted 41% in town A, and in town B the figure accounted for three-quarters of the workforce. Regarding other sectors, the sales and services’ workers shared relatively the same amount of 30% in town A, while in town B the sales’ data almost doubled the services’.
Half a decade witnessed a significant change in workers’ shifting from manufacturing to services sector. Specifically in town A, the proportion of employees in the services rose almost twice as much as its data in 1960, becoming the new leading industry ultimately. In contrast, the manufacturing and sales shared the same downward pattern, declining to approximately 20% of workers in 2010. Regarding town B, although manufacturing was still a major sector, its figure fell sharply by 20%. The services' employees doubled and ended up at 25%, while the sales' ones increased only a negligible amount.
