The pie charts illustrate the percentage of British students at a British university who managed to speak other languages apart from English in 2000 and 2010.
By a glance at the two graphs, we can notice the fact that there was a slight increase in the percentage of multilingual in this school. Besides, the ratio of students who learned Spanish was much more than others in 2000. On the whole, however, the division had not changed much throughout the 10 years.
It appears that approximately three-tenths of the participants chose to not pick up learning any languages except for their mother tongue in both 2000 and 2010. Nevertheless, the rate of Spanish speakers among the scholars decreased by nearly 10 percent between 2000 and 2010. Furthermore, French-speaking students' percentage experienced the same downward trend. On the contrary, bilinguals and trilinguals took up 5% more in each one in 2010 compared to 2000. Surprisingly, there was no fluctuation occurred in the proportion of German users even after a decade.
