The stipulated bar chart illustrates the average monthly temperature and rainfall for a span of one year from January to December in the city of Kolkata. The mentioned parameters are in degree Celsius and millimeters.
The city face severe rainfall during the months of July and August, which is 330mm and 320mm agree respectively. December accounted for the driest month of the year recording 10mm of shower. From January to May there is a gradual increase of city's rainfall from 20mm to 100mm after which there is a steep rise in the precipltation till the month of August then it started to decline from September onwards.
Whereas the temperature figures highlight a completely different trend. In the month of January the rainfall temperature is just 2o degree celsius then it started to rise and reached a substantial amount of 32 degree celsius in May. Then the figures started to decline and reached the exact figure of January at the end of the year, which is 20 degree celsius.
To summarise, it is clear from the chart that there is no direct connection between the rainfall and temperature and it is purely seasonal. An interesting thing is that, during the months of July and August the temperature is considerably high despite the heavy showers.
