Describe the presented chart.
The presented chart provides information about the numbers of trips done by school students to and from their schools by different ways in the years 1990 and 2010. As shown in the chart, one group of school students can make their trips as car passengers. In addition, other three groups chose walking, taking the bus, or a combination of both. Fifth group decided to go to school by cycling.
In 1990, the highest number of walking trips and lowest number of trips by a car were reported. 2010 trips analysis results has provided the complete contradiction of that. Children traveling to their schools by a car were almost doubled in 2010. Moreover, the total amount of walking trips in 2010 is nearly half the amount in 1990.
There is a significant drop in the number of children walking to their schools from more than 12 million trips in 1990 to 6 million trips 2010. That dramatic decrease should be further studied and analyzed. Although there is a huge attention towards children health nowadays, parents still drive their kids to school by car rather than having them walking to their schools. There is a huge grow in the number of children traveling to school as car passengers from less than 6 million trips in 1990 to almost 11 million trips in 2010.
