The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
The diagram illustrates the process of electricity generation with the aid of geothermal energy, which is energy produced from the heat of the underground.
There are five separate steps that need to be taken in order to produce electricity. As shown in the diagram, these steps are divided into two areas, which are underground zone, and the electricity generator on the surface.
In the beginning, cold water is going to pumped down from the water storage. After going down about 4.5 km, water will be injected into Geothermal zone, also known as hot rocks. Then, the heat from these rocks will heat up the water to be collected in production well. Lastly, this hot water will be pumped up to the surface.
After hot water reaches the condenser, it turns into steam. Furthermore, this steam is going to turn the turbine, which will power the generator to produce electricity. Ultimately, the electricity will go through the wires connected to the electricity lines.
