The diagram below shows how salt is removed from sea water to make it drinkable

The diagram illustrates the desalination process of seawater turned into freshwater. Overall, it is clear that the production of freshwater from saltwater requires a series of stages which can be divided into 2 parts. The first part is when saltwater is filtered and returned to the sea and the latter part including the process of drinkable water produced and distributed.

First of all, after water is taken from the sea, it experienced filtration which is pre-treatment. As soon as the filtration is done, some water is sent back to sea and the remains go to the next stage. the water is now forced through a membrane at high pressure, which salt and impurities are removed and again sent returned to sea, only water molecules are allowed to go through.

At the next stage of the process, water underwent post-treatment, where water is treated with lime, chlorine and fluoride. Once the water is purified it is stored in a storage or container. Finally, this drinkable water is distributed to households and other places.
