The diagram illustrates the way a hydroelectric dam created electricity. This report will provide a brief description of the main stages in such progress.
This man-made linear process starts with the construction of a dam creating a reservoir and finishes with the generation of electricity, which is transported to other areas.
To begin with, as can be referred from the diagram, the water behind the dam goes through the intake. Then it follows the narrow channel, named Penstock, which is designed to add more speed to the flow. At this point in the process, water passes through the turbine, which is connected to a generator, placed above it in the Powerhouse. The next step is that electricity is produced by the force of the passing water. Ultimately, the electricity is then transported by long-distance power lines to households and factories, and the water is directed to the way back into the rivers after passing through the turbine.
