The diagrams below show changes that have taken place in the Sawry District neighbourhood since 1920.
The two maps show the main changes which have occurred in the Sawry District between 1920 and 2020.
Overall, it appears that Sawry district has become a much more modern city, with Yang office complex, apartments and several major infrastructure projects.
One interesting change is that Yang office complex has been constructed in the west of the district. In 1920, there was not any apartments for living, but apartments have been built near the Oak Avenue. Another striking change is that a new road has been built with bridge, to connect Oak Avenue with across the Elmwood river. However, the beach has also been made into bike path.
If we look at the Miller’s lake area, it has been modernized since 1920, and a range of buildings have been developed, such as apartments, houses, shops. The south of the town used to be a green area, with lots of trees, but the trees cut down and a new Prestwich primary school has been moved. A final interesting development has been the introduction of a Lonoco Petrol station in the west of the district.
