The pictures illustrate the lifespan of salmom.
Overall, there are 3 main stages in the life cycle of salmons, starting with salmon eggs and ending with growing to adult ones.
In the first stage, female salmons lay their eggs among reeds and small stones in the upper river, which is slow moving. After approximately 5 to 6 months, eggs are become the baby fish which are called fry and are from 3 to 8 cm long. Then, the fry swim to the lowwer rivers which are fast flowing.
Turning to the next stage, after a period of 4 years, the fry grows gradually into a smolt which is about from 12 to 15 cm in length. Next, smolts migrate to open sea where they live for about 5 years to grow rapidly into the adult stage. In the final stage, adult salmon are about from 70 to 76 cm long. Finally, they swim back to the same place where they were born, the upper river, and then lay eggs. As a result, the life cycle of the next generation starts again.
