The given diagram presents data on the percentage of small, medium and large companies using social media for business purposes from 2012 to 2016. Overall, large businesses make use of social media the most among all types of companies.
In 2012, large companies made extensive use of social media and started by 80 percent. This number had stayed steady for three years straight until it plummeted in 2015. The number of large businesses having social media presence declined to 50 percent, one and a half times less than that of 2014. However, it soon underwent a dramatic increase in the year 2016, where the percentage of large companies using social media was back to the original number, 80%.
The number of small businesses and medium businesses making use of social media started low at 28 and 31 percent respectively. These numbers continued to grow and by the year 2014, small companies reached 35% of social media presence. The glow was more pronounced on medium businesses as they reached nearly 50% of social network presence in the year 2014. The year 2015 witnessed a fall in social media use with both businesses until they grew again the year after. At the end of the period, there were nearly 50% of both businesses using social platforms, double that of 2015.
