The primary chart beneath exemplifies the way in which energy is utilized for domestic purposes in Australia, the second pie chart illustrates the emission of greenhouse gases from energy usage.
Overall, cooling is the smallest segment of household energy, whereas heating is the most significant part of this. On the contrary, water heating contributes the most to greenhouse gas emissions.
First of all, the most striking feature of the graph is that, slightly over two-fifth of energy is used for heating purposes, whereas the greenhouse gas emission through this is 15%, which is almost one-third. Following this, the greenhouse gas emission due to water heating is 32%, which is slightly over the usage of 30%. The least amount of energy is used for cooling and lighting that amounts to 2% and 4%. Although, the greenhouse gas emission through this usage is about double resulting in 3% and 8% respectively.
Moreover, 7% of energy is utilized for refrigeration, while 14% has resulted in greenhouse gas emission, that is just a double. Furthermore, the greenhouse gas emission due to other appliances are approximately over a quarter (28%) ; however, the energy usage for this is slightly under a fifth (15%).
