Essay topics:

The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy used.

The given pie charts give information about the way of using energy in an average Australian household and the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from using energy in this household.

Overall, as can be seen from the pie charts, it is clear that in this Australian household, the amount of energy is used for heating most while the opposite is true for cooling. In addition, the amount of gas emissions released to the environment mostly comes from water heating and other appliances.

Looking more closely at how an average household in Australia uses energy, the rate of energy used for heating is the highest, at about two-fifths, while the figure for water heating is significantly lower, at 30%. At the same time, only 2%, 4%, and 7% of the energy used in this household are used for cooling, lighting, and refrigeration respectively. Additionally, the proportion of using other appliances in using energy in this family accounted for roughly 15% of the total energy used.

According to the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from using energy in this Australian household, it is clear that the gas emission released into the environment by using water heating is highest, at nearly a third, while 29% of the greenhouse emissions in this family come from heating and refrigeration, roughly 15% for each. Meanwhile, approximately 28% of the total emission is resulted from using other appliances. Moreover, cooling and lighting make up only 3% and 8% of the total greenhouse gas emissions resulting from using energy respectively.
