The maps below show the village of Stakeford in 1930 and 2010.
The given maps illustrate the changes that appeared in Stokeford village over a period of 8 decades starting from 1930 to 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the village in Stokeford experienced considerable changes during the period shown. The most noticeable differences between the two maps are the disappearance of the farmland and the existence of housing areas.
As can be seen from the maps, from 1930 to 2010, on the western side of the road running along the River Stoke from the bridge to the south of the village, the post office remained unchanged. During the same period, two shops and the farmland were both demolished to make way for the broadening of the road and the construction of residential areas.
Turning to other features, we can see that on the eastern side of the road running from the bridge, the farmland in the northeast of Stokeford village was also destroyed and replaced by the appearance of many houses and the expansion of the primary school. To the south of the primary school, while the large house was expanded and became the retirement home, another housing area was constructed on the original site of the gardens nearby.
