the following graph compares the rates of immigration to New Zealand from four countries between 2001 and 2005

The given bar chart illustrates changes in the immigration to New Zealand from four nations and reveals differences in their trends from 2001 to 2005.

Overall, South Africa had the smallest number of people moving to New Zealand which followed a downward trend while that of the UK experienced a reverse pattern and ups and downs were witnessed when it comes to the figures for China and India.

It is evident from the chart that emigration to New Zealand in China and India followed a similar trend. The number of both Chinese and Indian citizens leaving started at over 4000 people in 2001. After almost doubling two years after, the statistics for China fell dramatically to just about 5000 people in 2005. Similarly, approximately 7700 Indian residents moved to New Zealand in 2003 while the number plummeted significantly in 2005 to only around 3000 people.

A consistent trend was seen in the UK and South Africa. However, while the number of citizens in the former nation moving to New Zealand markedly increased to 8000 in 2005, that of the latter gradually dropped to only over 2000 people in the last studied year.
