The following two pie charts show the results of a survey into the popularity of various leisure activities among European adults in 1985 and 1995.
The two pie charts illustrate the proportion of numerous pursuit favorite activities that European residents enjoy in their spare time in 1985 and 1995.
In general, there was a disparity between entertainment activities that people most enjoyed in the two examined years. Of these activities, watching TV gained the most popular among European citizens for both two years. It is also notable that while talking with family saw an increase in 1995, the reverse was true for others.
Looking at the first chart, European adults had a whale of a time watching telly with various programs, accounting for 32%, leading the ratio of relaxation services in 1985. It is noticeable that this percentage of watching the box was approximately doubled as great as talking with family in their spare time. Following that, making up nearly 23%, eating out placed as the second most popular activity, which was just higher than 2% in comparison with talking with friends.
In stark contrast, however, all activities experienced a downward trend in popularity. Eating out, which was the second-highest outside activity in the past time, underwent a dramatic decline, standing at nearly one in ten in 1995. This figure was quite the same with talking with family activity. Meanwhile, there was a slight decrease in watching TV, nonetheless, it still played a major part in their free time. On the contrary, talking with friends become one of the top prioritized choices among European countries, rising to 26% in 1995. With the of the prosperity of cutting-edge technology, playing computer games witnessed a sharp skyrocket in popularity, accounting for around a third.
