The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries.
The line graph shows the change of water used in three different sectors from 1900 to 2000, and the table illustrates water consumption in Brazil and Congo.
According to the line chart, great changes have taken place in agriculture, which the water used rose dramatically from around 500 Km³ in 1900 to 3000 Km³. Also over the period from 1900 to 2000, there were slightly increases both in industrial use and domestic use(from around 0 to 1000 Km³and 0 to around 500 Km³ respectively.)
From the table, it is apparent from the table that the number of population, irrigated land and water consumption per person in Brazil were all more than that in Congo. Brazil, with 176 million people, had 26500 km³ irrigated land and water consumption per person was 359 m³. While in Congo, water consumption was only 8 m³, though the population of Congo was 5.2 million and the area of irrigated land was 100 km³.
In conclusion, all the water use had an increase, what’s more the agriculture use was still the most important sector of global water use. In addition, water consumption in Brazil was obviously more than that in Congo.
