the line graph shows the percentage of babies who were born in China and the USA from 1920 to 2000.

overall, the birth rate in the USA is higher than China except from 1935 to 1955.

the USA, during the first 20 years the figures fluctuated at somewhere between 11 and 13 percent, before dropping sharply to less than 8 percent in1945. the following 5 years, there was a steep increase in the number of the births from 5 percent to 15 percent. between 1950 and 2000 the birth rate experienced a fall slowly from 15 percent to approximately 7 percent.

in China, there was also fluctuated from 10 percent in 1920 to 15 percent in 1935. then, decreasing deeply 15 percent within 5 years and maintaining stable at 5 percent to 1945. the following 5 years, there was a jum significantly to 20 percent. and between 1955 to 2000 the birth rate go down steeply to 2 percent.
