The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given line graph is an extract from a report made in 2008 regarding U.S. energy consumption by fuel such as petrol/oil, coal, natural gas, nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower; commencing from 1980 and ending with predictions till 2030.
Overall, the category petrol/oil is the most popular source of fuel for energy consumption, followed by coal and then natural gas. Whereas nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower are consumed comparatively scarcely to derive energy in the United State of America.
According to the line graph, consumption of coal and petrol/oil have soared since 1980 and is expected to continue this trend by 2030 with a total rise of around 15 quadrillion units each. Similarly, natural gas consumption has also shown expansion (of nearly 5 quadrillion units) besides a few fluctuations, over approximately 20 years but later it will plateau till 2030.
However, use of nuclear and solar/wind energy is not increased noticeably since 1980 and is estimated to be at the same pace by 2030 i.e. from just below 5 quadrillion units in 1980 to just above 5 quadrillion units in 2030. Likewise, no significant change is observed and predicted for hydropower utilization as source of energy.
