The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line chart provides information about the 2008 report of The united States’ energy used (in quadrillion units) from 1980 and it is projecting in 2030. Overall, there was an upward trend in the figure of energy used in the period, and it predicts that the figure of petrol and oil will remain the highest at the end of the period.
In 1980, the share of petrol and oil was the biggest and it stood of around 35 followed by a moderate fluctuation in the next fifteen years. After that, the figure increased gradually to more than 40 in 2019, then it projects to increase by 50 in 2030.
Natural gas and coal began at an almost similar figure, about 20 and 16 respectively. After which, the number of natural gas fluctuated, while the coal experienced an increase and surpassed the natural gas in 1990 (at around 17). Then, the coal incline gradually and will reach just below 30 in 2030. Natural gas, however, experienced fluctuation for more than 35 years and increased to similar that of coal in 2013 then, will end-up the period just above 20.
The figures for remaining energy sources shared similar numbers in 1980 (approximately 3). While Nuclear and Solar/wind will finish the period at 6 and 5, the number of Hydropower will not change in 2030.
