The line chart shows how much drivers in the USA and the UK spend on fuel. Petrol purchases are divided by three group of welfare (poorest, middle-income, richest) and are shown in percentage of income.

Overall, people in the United States of America spend less part of their income on gasoline richer they are and vice-versa in the United Kingdom - richest people pay more then poorest ones for gasoline.

The poorest people should spend approximately 4-5.2% of their income on petrol that is almost equal to percentage of middle-income group which is also in a range between 3.9-5%. At this point, spending gradually falls from 3.9% of income to near 2.5% for richest drivers. It can clearly be seen that poorest part of the USA more affected by gasoline prices then the richest ones.

The UK line starts at 0.5% of income for petrol for poorest people and steadily increase until it hits the peak with 4% for the richest group and an significant decrease onward, thus richest people there spend 8 times bigger part of their budget on gas then the poorest do.
