The graph below shows average carbon dioxide CO2 emission per person in the UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.

The graph gives information about emission of average carbon dioxide of the UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal by individuals for a 40 years period from 1967 to 2007. The figures are given in a metric tonnes.

A brief glance, Italy and Portugal has been an upward trend while Sweden and the UK has been a downward trend. Also, Sweden and Portugal both reached the same rate of carbon dioxide emission at the end of the statistic.

The UK had the highest rate of emission among the four countries, it started from around 11 metric tonnes in 1967, gradually decreased and marked nearly 9 metric tonnes in 2007 which was still the highest rate of carbon dioxide emission.

As for Sweden, carbon dioxide emission per person was around 8.5 in 1967, then dramatically increased to above 10 in ten years later, then suddenly declined for the rest of the period. In regard to Portugal, carbon dioxide emission was under 2 metric tonnes in 1967, then that rate constantly increased throughout the period. Similarly with Portugal, Italy also went up from around 4 metric tonnes in 1967 to nearly 8 metric tonnes after four decades.
