The graph below shows changes in global food and oil prices between 2000 and 2011.
The given line graph provides a comparison of the variation between global food and oil prices over a 12-year-period.
From an overall perspective, it is conspicuous that both product prices fluctuated over the years shown. While the food price index reached a peak at the end of the period, the average oil price index was the highest in the mid of 2008.
According to the recorded data in the food price index, in the beginning, this number was merely under 100 points. In the following year, there was a slight increase in this part whereas the reverse pattern existed in the mid of 2002. However, points of the food price index witnessed a dramatic growth until 2008, with a given statistic was 220 points at that time. Finally, its number experienced a fluctuation from 2008 to the end of the period and rocketed to 240 points at the end of a period.
Moving to the average oil price line, in 2000, the selling price of one barrel was under 40 dollars. Moreover, it witnessed a fluctuation in the average oil price from 2000 to 2007. Noticeably, it remarkably made a twofold jump in the next year but substantially plummet in 2009. Finally, the average selling price of oil continuously oscillated until the end.
