The graph compares the overall prices of oil and food in all over the world from 2000 to 2011

As can be seen from the chart, the figures of oil and food prices experienced an upward trend over 11 years of the period. Moreover, the highest number was the data of food price while the oil price ended up at the lowest point.

From 2000 to 2004, the trends of both prices were closely smilar. In the first 4 years, the statistics of oil and food went through a period of fluctuations to 30 dollars per barrel and 105 points, respectively. The total number of food price in world wide saw a sharp increase at about 40 points in 2007. Futhermore, there was a significant climb in the oil price from 100 dollars to 150 dollars, followed by a fall at 20 dollars.

In the next 2 years, the figure of oil price reached a peak at nearly 135 dollars per barrel before going into free fall to just 40 dollars. The trend of food price was the same. The food price went up significantly to 220 points in 2008, then collapsed a half in 2009. While, the data of oil went through an erratic behavior then recovered to 100 dollar per barrel, that of food went up and down and reached the highest point at 240 in the end of the period.
