The graph below shows changes in the percentage of households with cars in one European country between 1971 and 2001
The bar charts provide a source of information relating to how households owning cars had exchanged during 30 years in a particular country in Europe.
It is obvious that whereas the number of families who did not possess any cars went down, those who owned more than one car had fluctuated and improved finally. Especially, buying one car was likely to be the most favorable demand until 2001.
Looking in the charts for more details, in 1971, besides nearly 47% of a whole European household without a car, 35% of those gained one car which was twice time as much as the proportion of two or more cars. Between 1971 and 1981, the figure of families having either one car or not reduced slightly by approximately 5%. However, European residents had a tendency to own at least 2 cars.
Next 20 years, the percentage of no car owning had continuously diminished until below 30%. On the other hand, in spite of the highest ratio of one car city dwellers had in 1991, this figure eliminated inconsiderably which seemed 43%. Moreover, apart from an insignificant drop, the proportion of 2 or more cars in a European country had been maintained in parallel.
