The graph below shows the consumption of fish and different kinds of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph illustrates the changes in the amount of chicken, beef, lamb and fish which was consumed weekly by each person in Europe over a period of 25 years.
It is clearly seen that the consumption of chicken increased significantly while ones of the others types of meat had opposite trend.
Looking at the detail, chicken was the only kind of food which had an upward trend in the consumption. In 1979, the consumption of chicken was the third position compared with the amount of beef, lamb and fish with under 150 grams, but this figure boosted to 250 grams per person in 7 days and was used the most popularly in the years 1999 and 2004. During this period, the proportion of the consumption of fish was the smallest and fluctuated around 50 grams each person in a week.
By contrast, the amount of beef and lamb witnessed a considerable decrease from 1979 to 2004. In 1979, each resident in a European country consumed about 225 grams of beef per week, but after 25 years, this statistic declined dramatically to more 100 grams in 2004. There was the same trend in the amount of lamb in this period. People in this country made cutbacks at their consumption of lamb from 150 grams in 1979 to appropriate 50 grams each person per week in 2004.
