The graph illustrates changes in the eating habits regarding fish and various types of meat in a particular European country over 25 years from 1979 to 2004.
Overall, the consumption rate of beef and lamb decreased dramatically over the given period, while there was an upward trend for chicken. At the start of the period, beef was the most widely eaten meat, however it was replaced by chicken in 1989.
The amount of beef consumed in 1979 was approximately 220 grams per person weekly, however, after some fluctuations, this figure then was halved and fell to about 110 grams in the last year. At the same time, the lamb intake experienced the similar pattern. It began at 150 grams, after which the consumption rate fluctuated slightly and dropped to around 60 grams in 2004.
On the other hand, less than 150 grams of chicken was eaten initially, however this kind of meat became the most preferred by people in the final years, reaching 250 grams in 2004. Unlike other kinds of meat, the consumption of fish stayed approximately on the same level with figures around 50 grams per person per week each year, making marine meat the least consumed.
