The changes in the consumption of fish and some other kind of meat over the period of 1979-2004 in a European country have been illustrated by this line graph.
In 1979, the most popular food among these was beef with about 225 grams of intake per person. Whereas, lamp and chicken had approximately similar amount of consumption (around 150 grams) with fish being the least consumed protein.
However, over the span of next 25 years , these numbers have shown a significant change. The partake of beef gradually declined from about 225 grams to 110 grams after fluctuating between 1979 and 1984. On the other hand, a gradual increase is noticed in the consumption of chicken that went to 250 grams from 140 grams per week becoming the highest taken food . Although the lamb also saw a sudden decrease in its consumption from 150 grams to around 70 grams over the years of 1979- 2004 , the per week intake of fish remained almost stable at approximately 50 grams throughout these 25 years .
