The graph below shows the contribution of three sectors – agriculture, manufacturing and business and financial services – to the UK economy in the twentieth century.
The chart below illustrates in percentages how three sectors contributed to the UK economy in the previous century. Considered sectors are agriculture, manufacturing and business and financial services.
Overall, it is apparent that in the first 50 years agriculture was leader. Other noticeable feature, throughout all the period the manufacturing sector gradually declined, while business and financial one gradually rose.
Going into details, early on share of agriculture organizations was 50 percent, further there was a marginal rise by approximately 2 percent, followed by sharp fall by 40 percent in the second part of the century. In comparison, in 1900 manufacturing had share almost as much as agriculture, with 46 percent, but it ended up the century with less than 20 percent, thus it halved.
With regards to business and financial sector, having only 5 percent at the beginning it lagged far behind agriculture and manufacturing. Then from the third part of century it started to rocket and at the end of the given data this sector had almost 40 percent.
