The bar chart shows the hours of teaching per year done by each teacher in four different subjects in 2001.

In general, US teachers worked the most hours, while Japanese teachers spent the least time at school. There was a stark difference in working hours between upper secondary teachers, lower secondary teacher, and primary school teacher.

Teacher primary school in Japan worked 600 hours, but teacher primary school in USA worked over 700 hours, equivalent to the number of Spanish school teachers were at work. The lower secondary school in all four countries had the same level, but the teacher in the USA spent 1000 hours. Both Spain and Iceland had the same number of 900 hours to teach. The USA high school achieved 1200 hours spent most time at school. Finland and Japan had the least amount of time spent teaching at 500 hours. Canada had the same amount of hours as the US at 1200. Overall, the US teachers had the highest amount of time spent teaching. Therefore, it can be concluded that the US teachers have the highest amount of time spent teaching, followed by Canada, with Spain and Iceland tied for third place. Japan and Finland had the least amount of time spent teaching.
