The graph below shows how people buy music. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graph elucidates the percentage of music sales through streams, downloads, and CDs purchased from 2011 to 2018.
In general, while the proportion of those purchasing music through CDs and downloads underwent a downturn, those who streamed music showed the reverse. Streams made up the lion’s share of the sales at the end of the year.
From 2011 to 2014, a marked increase in music sales is seen on streaming platforms and downloads by 15% and 41%, respectively. In comparison, those purchasing music through CD continued to dip considerably by almost half. Also, a considerable gap was shown by approximately two-fifths.
Over the next four years, music download sales plunged after reaching their peak at 42%. The same goes with the CD purchasing sales that gradually decreased by one in ten, making it the least method opted by customers to buy music. Meanwhile, music streaming skyrocketed and became the most favorable place to purchase music, surpassing all other categories.
