The given figure illustrates the proportion of Australian trading to four nations over the course of 22 years starting in 1990.
Overall, it is immediately obvious that there were two main trends: an upward trend could be seen in China and India, whereas there was a downward tendency in U.S. and Japan. In addition, over the period, the figure for China reached the highest peak in 2012 towards all other countries.
In the beginning, the Australian exports percentage could be witnessed at roughly 2% in the year 1990, after which there was a slight increase to 5% in 2000. On the other hand, the period from 1990 to 2000 in India did not experience a considerable movement, which remained at only 1% in 2000. At this point, while Chinese figure rose remarkably and reach a peak of nearly 30% in 2012. There was also a slight gain in India from 2000 to 2010. However, the next two years saw a gradual fall and ended up with an accurately 5%.
In contrast, a general downward trend can be seen in the line represented of Japan and U.S. By 1990, products Australian exported to Japan accounted for more than a quarter, which doubled as much as that of proportions for the US.
