The graph below shows the pollution levels in London between 1600 and 2000.

The line chart depicts the pollution levels in London from 1550 to 2000, which was caused by Sulphur dioxide and smoke. Overall, we can see that the levels of both pollutants show a similar trend but the figure for the level of Sulphur dioxide was higher than those of smoke in the atmosphere throughout this period.

In 1600, pollutant levels were the lowest point but over the next 100 years, the levels of sulphur dioxide increased significantly to over 750 micrograms per metre, while the levels of smoke only rose gradually to approximately 250 micrograms per metre. Next, the 200 years later, the levels of those pollutants continued to rise steadily despite there were some fluctuations. Between 1850 to 1900, the levels of sulphur dioxide and smoke reached the highest point, at about 850 micrograms per metre and nearly 500 micrograms per metre respectively.

However, by 1920, the pollutant levels had fallen sharply and these changes continued to fall with major fluctuations to nearly 0 micrograms in the following years.
