Overall, while paper and cardboard together with glass containers witness several fluctuations in the recycling rate, aluminum cans as well as plastics underwent a relatively ascending trend.
Looking at the chart, it is noticeable that paper & cardboard were the main materials that were mostly recycled throughout the period, with figures ranging from 65% to 70%. To be more specific, commencing at 65% in 1982, the group witnessed a few fluctuations before declining gradually from 80% to 70% in the later phase of the time surveyed. On the other hand, glass containers experienced an opposite trend, with the proportion of recycling declining to 40% before ascending steadily to 60% from 1990 to 2010. In addition, aluminum cans showed a notable difference. Despite being recycled later in 1986, the material rose dramatically in the recycling rate from 5% to reach 45% at the end of the period. Lastly, insignificant proportions belonged to plastics, with figures starting with 3% in 1990 and barely reaching 10% in 2010.
