The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

The given graph illustrates the number of people aged 65 and above contributing to the population of three countries, the USA, Sweden and Japan expanded on the span of 100 years from 1940 to 2040.
It can be clearly seen from the graphs that all three countries has increasing trend of old age population.
It is quite evident that out of these three countries, Japan has the most significant change. Starting from 1940 where only 5% of aged people are counted in the overall population but it drastically rose to 10% in 2020 and the trend is continuously increasing.
Alongside Japan, Sweden and the USA also has steady growth in the aged people contribution as USA statistics were at 9% in 1940 and it rose to almost 16% in 1980 but the trend starting diminishing from 1980 till 2020. After the year 2020, an evident raise can be seen in the statistics and its going upwards in the next years.
Lastly, Sweden also shows increasing trend throughout the century, starting from 6% in 1940 to 13% in 1980 and a significant growth in 2010. Sweden statistics are also on the increasing side.
