The graph below shows the proportion of the population who use the Internet between 1999 and 2009 in three different countries.
This line chart illustrates the percentage of people in the USA, Canada and Mexico who using the Internet over 10 years period from 1999.
Looking at the information more detail, we can see that in 1999, the percentage of Internet users in America accounted for just under 25% while the Canada and Mexico people accounted for far less proportion, at 10% and 5% respectively. The proportion of the population who use the Internet increased dramatically all the way at the end of the period in the USA and Canada at around 70% for the former and 80% for the latter. It is, however, interesting to note that by the year 2002, the number of Canadian who using the Internet always lower than American, but it increased suddenly and continued to lead over the next 7 years.
By contrast, Mexico was developed slower than the other two nations. The proportion of Internet users in Mexico rose gradually over the 10 years period at just under 40% in 2009.
Overall, it is clear that although the Internet is increasingly popular in these countries, Mexico was always leading a lower percentage compared to the other developed countries.
