The graph below shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2022 by four different modes of transport.

The given line graph illustrates the number of products transferred within the UK from 1974 to 2022 by four various forms of transportation.
Overall, the quantities of products by all the four types of transport increased. It is also noticeable that the products were transported by road the most, and through the pipelines the least.
In the year 1974, the quantity of goods moved by road was around 70 tons, being in the top position. The number of goods transferred through the pipelines was about one-seventh of that number, standing in the lowest position. The quantities of the products transported by the 2 remaining modes were similar, at around 40 tons. From 1978 to 1994, the products through the pipelines rose steadily to approximately over 20 tons. The products shifted by waterways also experienced a stable rise, but stayed the same between 1986 and 1990, then fell slightly to about under 60 tons in 1994. The goods by road and rail had the opposite patterns over these years.
From 1998 to 2002, the products via all of the modes of transport saw a rise, except for the pipelines. The number of goods by road went up minimally, reaching about under 100 tons as the highest figure. The number of goods by water and rail were about three fifths and two fifths of that figure respectively. The number of the pipeline products remained unchanged, at around 21 tons as the lowest figure.
