In 1993 the unemployment rate of Japan was 7%, approximately 3-fold compared to the rate of US. However, after a significant fluctuation around 6% in two years 1994 and 1995, the figure of US dropped to score at 5.0% in early of 1997. In contrast, the rate of Japan kept surging up from 2.5% at the beginning of 1993 to reach just under 4.5% on March 1996. Few months later, this figure dropped to below 4.0% before slightly climbing up to collide with the rate of US at 5.0% in 1998.
