The graph below shows the unemployment rates in the US and Japan between March 1993 and March 1999. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.

The graph depicts the unavailability of jobs in the United States and Japan for a period of six years beginning with March 1993 and ending with March 1999.

On an average, the unemployment rates in the US have been declining while there has been a contrasting movement in Japan. A remarkable point is that globally Japan has been considered to be a booming economy, that is a pioneer of technology and innovation.

In the year 1993, joblessness in Japan was just 2.5 percent and in the year March 1999 it doubled to five percent. As regards the US, while the same started out at 7 percent, it touched 5 percent in the same year. Now both the countries are in the same level and are it seems like a bad move for Japan.

The interesting part is the variation is fairly minimal in the short run. For instance, in the years 1995 to 1997 the levels of this phenomenon was 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent in Japan, the same was dipped from 5.5 percent to 5 percent in the US. Over a period of time, there have been significant progress or decline in creation of work and opportunities.

Changes can be for the better or for the worse, in this case, clearly the US has altered positively, though sadly the same cannot be said in case of Japan.
