The given line graph illustrates the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per individual in four countries ( United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal) between 1967 and 2007, units are mentioned in metric tonnes.
Overall, in the period of four decade, United Kingdom had a steady decrease, but Sweden showed a rather steep decline in CO2 emission. However, Carbon dioxide emission per person in Italy and Portugal has been consistently increasing.
In the year 1967, United Kingdom and Sweden had around 11 and 9 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per person respectively. As United Kingdom appeared to be in decreasing trend in the following decades, although this country has the maximum carbon dioxide emission (little above 8 metric tonnes of emission) in 2007, On the other hand, Sweden had a sharp rise in the year 1977 (more than 10metric tonnes) and a deep decrease in emissions after that with over 5 metric tonnes in 2007.
Italy and Portugal were the least CO2 emission countries in 1967, but showed increasing fashion till 2007. Italy tops the chart in second placeby emitting almost 8 metric tonnes of CO2 in 2007.
