Essay topics:

The graph shows the average number of UK commuters traveling each day by car, bus and train between 1970 and 2030.

The line graph compares the figure for people commuting to work on a daily basis in the UK by three means of transport from 1970 to 2030.

In general, it is apparent that most commuters incline to use cars and trains to travel every day, and the two kinds of transport are expected to sharply increase in the future. While the other seems to experience a slight decrease in the mentioned period. In addition, cars are the most prominent means of the vehicle in the UK.

Looking at the figure for cars, in 1970, it stood at the highest point of about 5 million and then grew dramatically to 7 million over the next 30 years. After remaining stable from 2000 to 2010, it will rise drastically and is expected to reach a peak at 9 million in 2030.

In regard to the bus, it placed at the second position among three vehicles, making up 4 million in 1970 before witnessing a slight downward trend to nearly 3.2 million in 2010. In the next 20 years, there is forecast the level off, accounting for just only one-third of the number of private vehicles. In contrast, despite starting at the lowest point, railway transport saw a continual upward trend and then rising steeply to reach 5 million in 2030.
