The graph shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries

The graph illustrates information about the percentage of population who are 65 and above over a 100-year period between 3 countries. In general, it can be seen that there was an upward trend in numbers in all 3 countries. However, Japan have the most significant growth in the graph.
To begin with, USA and Sweden have about 6% to 9% proportion of people aged 65 and above during 1940. Both have a steady increase in population until the end of 1980. Subsequently, both countries ended with about 23% to 25% of their population with the said age group in the final 20 years of the graph.
On the other hand, Japan started with only 5% residents, although there was a gradual decrease in numbers during the first 60 years of the graph, it can be seen that there was a big leap in population figures by the year 2030 of up to 25% of their citizens.
