he chart below shows the number of trips made by children in one country in 1990 and 2010 to travel to and from school using different modes of transport.

The graph depicts the number of trips made by each mode of transportation used by students (aged 5-12 years) who are travelling to and coming back from school for the years 1990 and 2010 in a particular country.

Overall, the graph shows us that number of trips made by different modes of transportation have decreased in 2010 compared to 1990 with the exception of car passenger which has increased substantially.

The number of trips made by car had increased from 4.2 million (1990) to around 11 million (2010). In terms of number of trips made in 2010, cars remain the favourite however there is a substantial decrease in all other modes of transportation in 2010 when compared to 1990. Walking had decreased from about 12.3 million to 6 million trips opted by children.

Cycling also had a deep fall from about 6.1 million in 1990 to 2 million in 2010. Walking and bus had fallen from 5.9 million to 3 million. Bus also followed the same suit as the number of trips had fallen from 7 million to about 5 million but the fall being of a less magnitude compared to other variables.
