Internet Users as percentage of population
The line graph compares three countries, namely the USA, Canada, and Mexico, in terms of the proportion of the population that used the Internet between 1999 and 2009.
Overall, the percentage of Internet users in the USA and Canada was greater than that of Mexico throughout the period. Also, the highest growth was seen in the figure for Canada.
In 1999, the USA ranked first as having the highest proportion of Internet users, around 20%, which doubled the figure for Canada. During the same year, the Internet did not come into use by the Mexicans. Internet users accounted for 40% of the citizens in the USA and Canada but only made up 10% in Mexico in 2002.
After three years, the USA and Canada saw a high increase of around 30% in the proportion of Internet users compared to a gradual climb to 20% in Mexico. By 2009, everyone in Canada had access to the Internet as opposed to 90% and 20% of the Americans and Mexicans.
