The line graph below shows the production of paper, wood pulp and sawn-wood in the UK from 1980 to 2000.
The line chart shows how the production of three forestry products had changed between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, there were variations in the production of three products, namely paper, wood pulp and sawn-wood, over the period, with paper and packaging increasingly dramatically and the other two decreasing slightly.
Beginning at around 230 million tonnes in 1980, the production of paper and packaging increased steadily to 250 units in 1990. Thereafter, it surged to 350 units by 2000. Throughout the period, its production ranked the first among the three products.
As for the other two products, wood pulp and sawn-wood, their production both fell over the period. To be more specific, wood pulp and sawn wood, which started at 170 and 200 units, went on a downhill in the first decade, both falling to 150 units by 1990. Thereafter, sawn-wood decreased consistently, gradually overtaken by wood pulp, which experienced a slight increase of about 10 units in the second decade.
